Compassion-Focused ABA Therapy
Meaningful support. Individualized care. Respect for who you are.
At Evergreen Counseling, we believe autism is not something that needs to be “fixed.” Our approach to ABA is compassionate, individualized, and respectful of neurodiversity. We focus on helping children, teens, and young adults develop meaningful skills while honoring their communication styles, sensory needs, preferences, and individuality.
What Does Our Approach Look Like?
We focus on skills that can improve everyday life, including communication, emotional regulation, safety, independence, daily living skills, transitions, and self-advocacy.
We also recognize that behavior is communication. Rather than simply trying to stop a behavior, we work to understand what the individual may be communicating and what need the behavior may be meeting.
Regulation, Not Compliance
Our goal is not to make an autistic person appear less autistic. We do not believe harmless autistic traits, such as differences in eye contact or self-regulatory behaviors, need to be eliminated.
We prioritize regulation over compliance and believe individuals should have opportunities to make choices, communicate “no,” take breaks, and advocate for their needs.
Individualized Care
Every autistic person is different, and their ABA therapy should be too. Treatment goals are developed around the individual's strengths, needs, and quality of life, with families included as important members of the treatment team.
Our goal is simple: help each person build meaningful skills, increase independence, and thrive as themselves.
